Shabby Pin Cushion – Do it Yourself

Shabby Pin cusion

Can you guess what I’ve been up to????  Yep…I’m sewing again…..

After making my Chicken Pin Cushion a few weeks ago……I decided to make another pin cushion…. this time in the shape of a pumpkin……a girl just can’t have enough pin cushions…..right?…..

I will use this one to keep up with my shorter straight pins…..

I used my old pyrex bowl for the circles…..it measures 5 1/2 inches across……

3

I cut out 2 circles ……

next I folded the circles in half and then half again…..then I pressed them with an iron so I would have creases as a guide line for cutting…..

next I unfolded and cut each circle on the fold lines…. 4 wedges per circle…..

so now I have 8 wedges to work with…….attach each wedge one at a time……….from top to bottom…..I ended up with a large pumpkin shape…     ….sorry I forgot to take a picture of this step…..but you can go to this site below to get complete start to finish instructions…..

I filled 3/4 of the pumpkin with polyester fiberfill and then I added rice to give it some weight on the bottom……next I cut a small circle of white felt and hand sewn it around the bottom to close it up and to make it flat……..

7

Instead of adding a pumpkin stem to the top……I did my own thing…….With my handy dandy hot glue gun I added white ribbon, a fabric flower, a small silk flower and to finish it off a small white pearl in the center………

Don’t you just love it!!!!!!

Now it’s time to load it all up with pins……

Have a blessed day!!!!!!  and I would love to hear your comments!
