How to make Hummingbird Syrup

how to make hummingbird syrup

I love hummingbirds!  Just purchased a new hummingbird feeder with a moat on top to keep those pesky ants out.  Hope it works…..Me and my hubby have been spraying the iron pole everyday with Raid but somehow those ants seem to find their way around all that spray and end up all over the feeder.  Found this one at Lowe’s…….Instead of buying hummingbird food already made, I make my own syrup.   So easy to make and those little tiny birds love it!!!

 sugar cups

 1.  Need sugar and 2 cup measuring cup.

2.  Measure out 1 3/4 cup of sugar.  Add 1/4 cup of water.

3.  Microwave for 2 minutes and then stir.  Sugar will continue to melt.  Set aside until cool.

4.   Syrup can be place in refrigerator until ready to use.

Fill the feeders with syrup and you’re ready for business.   I like the feeders that have little ledges for the hummers to sit on while they have a drink.
