How to make a “Pate” for Antique Reproduction Doll

how-to-make-a-pate

Hello everyone…..Hope you all are having a great day……I’m doll blogging today…..and this is what I’ve been up to……This is the current doll I’m working on at my doll class with Mama Betty……She is a 19 inch, E J French Antique Reproduction…..and she is almost finished….Woo Hoo…..Today I’m going to share how I made a pate for her……

Pates are used to close the opening on top of the head……

Pates can be made of plastic, cork or Styrofoam…..I’m using Styrofoam……its easy to find and not that expensive……I purchase a Styrofoam ball just a tad larger than E J’s head and cut it in half…….them using a file….. I started shaving and shaping…..

Until it fits around the outside rim…….

5

The pate should always complete the shape of the head………

6

This looks good….now glue it in place……

7

Now just wrap a rubber band around the top and under her chin to hold the pate in place until the glue dries……

10

and there you have it……..Now she’s ready for the next step……the wig………oh boy…..now that’s going to be fun…….how does blonde hair sound…..should look lovely with her blue eyes……

Would love to hear what you think……..

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you:

May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you Peace.
